$1,000 Grand Prize Winner Named for 'I Love My Job' Contest
Digital Prospectors recently named a $1,000 Grand Prize Winner for our ‘I Love My Job’ Competition! We asked our consultants what makes them love their job. Is it their management or co-workers? The company culture, flex schedule, or training? Or is it heavily influenced by compensation, commute, career path, exposure to new technology, and challenging work?
Congrats to our $1,000 Grand Prize Winner of our ‘I Love My Job’ Contest. Here’s Joshua’s winning submission:
“The best part about my job is the ability to help solve the type of big problems that you see in the headlines, and at other times to be part of a team that tackles challenges that we can prevent from becoming news. I’ve never had to question whether or not my work is making a difference in people’s lives or for the world; I’ve now seen new worlds that our team discovered with our instruments, and I have met military personnel who are kept safe everyday by hardware I’ve touched. It can feel overwhelming at times, for sure, to know that your day-to-day work is part of a system that is blazing a path for the next generation of satellites for astrophysics, or to know that every bit of performance you see in the lab on a sensor will be counted as lives saved in the field, but that sense of impact is humbling and enables me to recommit myself to our mission every single day. I never go to work dreading a 9-5; I wake up excited that I get to spend another day working on consequential problems.” – Joshua, Optical Engineer
Below are some of the other submissions from the contest:
“I love my job. Not because of the competitive pay, seemingly easy commute, or flexible work schedule. I love my job because I’m working on what I’m passionate about: aerospace. I’m working on ground-breaking technology that directly impacts the safety of our country through the US Air Force. Each day presents a new challenge, a new problem to solve. As an engineer, that keeps me engaged and motivated to learn. I step through the door each week knowing I have a purpose, and start each day with an excitement to get started on the next task. I never know what the next day will bring, but I do know that with the resources available and help of my fellow coworkers, I will never fail. I love my job!” – Kayla, Structural Engineer

“I love my job because it’s fun. Every day brings a new challenge, but I get to work with great people, brilliant people, to figure it out. My co-workers treat me like another employee; they trusted me to lead the teardown of the largest testbed my group has ever fielded! (I didn’t let them down 🙂 ) I love working in a place where the people seem to really appreciate the effort I put in and the work I get done. My contribution counts. I couldn’t ask for anything more.” – Victoria, Hardware Engineer
“I’m just about finished with my first month as a Mechanical Engineering Contractor after working for another local defense company for three years and I couldn’t be any happier that I made the switch! My company has a fast-paced company culture that encourages learning, along with brand new office renovations that create an environment for employees to collaborate and share ideas. The team here has been friendly and welcoming while also challenging me since day one. I’m loving my job because I am able to contribute my ideas to design cutting edge technology while working with some of the brightest minds in the business, helping me learn new engineering skills every day. I would encourage any engineer who is tired of a slow paced or monotonous job and is interested in working in a collaborative environment with a variety of program opportunities to look no further a company like mine, and see if Digital Prospectors can help them find their perfect fit. Thank you, Digital Prospectors, for reaching out to me and helping me find that excitement to go to work every day!” – Caleb, Mechanical Engineer
“My work location is less than 5 miles from my home, on-site managers believe in work/life balance, my salary is extremely competitive, and my coworkers are collaborative professionals with a wide breadth of experience they’re happy to share. Most importantly, when I leave the office, I really leave the office.”
“I love my job for a number of reasons, in part because I work for not one, but TWO great companies! Supportive management at my on-site work location, in conjunction with equally supportive management at my contracting company, make going to work enjoyable. But what else makes me “love” my job? My work location is less than 5 miles from my home, on-site managers believe in work/life balance, my salary is extremely competitive, and my coworkers are collaborative professionals with a wide breadth of experience they’re happy to share. Most importantly, when I leave the office, I really leave the office. This allows me to enjoy my time out of the office and recharge, thereby allowing me to hit the ground running with a fresh mind every morning. I look forward to tackling the next challenge every day! This is unlike any other work experience I’ve had, as most prior employers demanded a 24×7 commitment to the job (even though we were paid for only 40 hours!), regardless of the law of diminishing returns. Not only has my family seen a positive change in my availability and mood, but I also sleep better now and I’ve never been more productive!” – Carol, IT Project Manager
“As a contracting engineer with over 35 years of experience working all over the country, I can honestly say where I’m at now is the most satisfying place I have ever worked at. I am going on 9 years, and in all that time I have yet to encounter a situation where I regret taking the job. The work is top notch cutting edge, and the quality of the talent is second to none. What is most surprising is that everyone seems to check their egos at the door. I have never had a conflict with a single individual or boss in my entire 9 years, and that is indeed rare. The lab fosters an environment of enabling their talent to get their job done with little to no intervention. I highly recommend to anyone considering working with Digital Prospectors to jump at the opportunity!” – Robert, Graphics Library Consultant
