Job Description:
Our client is seeking a highly skilled Printed Circuit Board Designer to specialize in RF/chip and wire PCB design, Rigid-flex PCB, and advanced electrical designs for aerospace systems. This critical role involves collaborating closely with engineers to gather and document system component requirements, environmental constraints, and technical specifications. The ideal candidate will excel in creating custom printed circuit board designs that undergo rigorous review and modification processes before integration into complex systems.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (but not limited to):
- Prepare detailed drawings and mechanical and electrical designs of printed circuit board components and assemblies based on verbal instructions, rough sketches, and engineering specifications.
- Conduct engineering computations, write specifications, and adjust drawings to ensure accuracy and compliance with requirements.
- Verify design elements, check dimensions, materials, and quantities for manufacturing and assembly.
- Generate comprehensive electrical drawing packages to support component procurement, PCB, MCM, substrate fabrication, assembly, and electrical inspection.
- Collaborate with program team leads and managers to review and refine PCB designs for system integration.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent from a trade school with 10+ years of experience.
- Proficiency with Mentor Graphics Expedition, DxDesigner, and AutoCad.
- Experience in designing high speed, multi-layer, digital, analog, RF, flex, controlled impedance, differential and mixed signal PCBs, including components (i.e., BGA’s, CCGA’s, Micro-Vias, and buried resistors).
- Ability to design Multi-Chip Modules (MCMs) and work with advanced RF dielectrics and substrate technologies.
- Minimum 10 years of relevant CAD experience.
- Familiarity with SolidWorks, Mentor Dx Databook, and Constraint Editor System (CES), along with IPC CID or CID+ certification is preferred.
- Experience coordinating with electronics fabrication and assembly facilities from quoting to final inspection is preferred.
- Knowledge of space-grade components and their unique design considerations is preferred.
- Due to the nature of the work, an Interim clearance is required, however an active Secret clearance is highly preferred.
