Essential Duties and Responsibilities (but not limited to):
- Execute specific engineering project assignments that align with broader program objectives, focusing on the design and development of products, test equipment, or processes.
- Assist in determining design requirements, recommend design architecture, and evaluate design alternatives.
- Collaborate with engineering personnel to resolve complex design issues.
- Develop requirements, specifications, schematics, simulations (as applicable), assembly drawings, bills of material, and material cost estimates.
- Ensure component reliability through technical evaluations of supplier specifications and manufacturing processes.
- Review and implement Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Test (DFT) objectives.
- Lead experiments and tests to determine the operating characteristics of breadboards, prototypes, products, or processes, ensuring sound engineering principles are applied.
- Assist manufacturing in transitioning from development to production, resolving design-related issues and identifying replacement components as necessary.
- Prepare technical documents and reports, including performance specifications and engineering specifications for major component purchases.
- Contribute to engineering project planning and tracking, estimating effort and duration for specific tasks and evaluating project feasibility and risks.
- Provide technical direction to other engineering personnel, primarily technicians, and participate in preparing proposals for new projects.
- Contribute to process improvements and support troubleshooting of customer application problems through field testing and research for new applications.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
- 9+ years of experience in electrical engineering and electronic design, with a strong preference for those with experience in medical devices and/or automation products.
- Intensive knowledge of engineering principles and practices across various assignments.
- Proficiency in electromechanical systems, including stepper and servo motors, digital and analog circuit design, and schematic and PCB design.
- Experience with FPGA and VHDL design is preferred.
- Proven technical leadership experience with the ability to guide and mentor a team in a multi-disciplinary environment.
- Strong initiative and creativity in problem-solving and project execution.
