Job Description:
Our client is seeking an experienced Project Engineer to join their team in designing and developing high-reliability electrical connection solutions used in extreme environmental conditions. This role is crucial in providing customized solutions that meet the diverse and demanding needs of industries such as aerospace, defense, oil and gas, oceanographic research, environmental monitoring, medical imaging, and pharmaceutical research. The ideal candidate will thrive on innovation, have a strong engineering background, and play an integral part in delivering complex, build-ready designs to manufacturing teams.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (but not limited to):
- Develop innovative, customer-specific solutions by designing new products or reconfiguring existing ones, ensuring they adhere to company guidelines, industry standards, and client requirements.
- Lead and collaborate within multi-disciplinary teams to ensure the successful development, qualification, and integration of products.
- Conduct and participate in formal design reviews, managing the qualification processes and supporting manufacturing through technical expertise.
- Develop detailed qualification test plans and participate in technical evaluations for quotes and order specifications.
- Engage in failure analysis, root cause investigations, and implement corrective actions when necessary.
- Maintain a deep understanding of company products, ensuring that all solutions align with design, qualification, and performance standards.
- Perform thorough technical analyses, including stress, electrical, tolerance stack-up, thermal, corrosion, and other critical evaluations.
- Contribute to a collaborative team environment, supporting senior engineers and taking ownership of key product lines or design components.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- A minimum of 7 years of industry experience, ideally with a focus on subsea or defense products.
- Strong engineering capabilities, including the ability to lead new designs, conduct technical analysis, and generate detailed drawings.
- Experience supporting first article qualifications and providing engineering support for quotes and customer program reviews.
- Familiarity with safety standards in high-pressure, thermal, and electrical environments.
- Knowledge of temperature, pressure, insulation resistance, optical insertion and return loss, and mechanical stress and strain testing.
- Experience with fiber optics and electrical interconnectivity.
- Understanding of military specifications and ISO 9001 standards is strongly preferred.
- Proficiency in CAD tools such as SolidWorks or AutoCAD (SolidWorks preferred).
- Understanding of manufacturing quality standards and reliability tools, including Six Sigma, FMEA, or similar methodologies.
