Job Description:
Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Digital Design Engineer to join their dynamic team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on high-reliability digital electronics in a variety of applications, including processor boards, FPGA, SOC boards, memory applications (DDR), and high-speed I/O systems. In this role, you will be instrumental in shaping digital hardware architectures and leading the development of cutting-edge electronic solutions. The ideal candidate will apply their expertise in engineering, problem-solving, and project management to contribute to the design and implementation of advanced electronics systems.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (but not limited to):
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate project and system requirements into clearly defined hardware architectures.
- Design and/or develop instruments including microprocessors, power systems, and analog components.
- Address complex issues and ensure timely project completion, while working collaboratively with technical teams.
- Build, test, and debug prototypes, while preparing documentation for manufacturing and product support.
- Conduct research to implement innovative solutions for complex, next-generation designs.
- Work with engineers and partners to develop reliable, cost-effective solutions for product development.
- Take ownership of solving complex problems with minimal guidance, adapting to evolving requirements as needed.
- Design and manage electronic architecture independently, while also providing insight based on simulation results.
- Identify potential risks at the program/system level and develop strategies for risk mitigation.
- Lead projects involving multiple engineers, effectively communicating progress and challenges to leadership and stakeholders.
- Mentor and provide guidance to junior engineers, offering constructive feedback and support.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Electronic or Electrical Engineering or a related field is required (Master’s degree is preferred).
- 5-7 years of experience in Electronic or Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Proficiency in electronic design, microprocessors, and embedded computing.
- Strong understanding of design principles and general computer architecture.
- Ability to write detailed design specifications and documentation.
- Programming and coding skills, particularly in embedded systems.
- Proficiency in schematic capture and board layout design.
- Expertise in embedded systems integration and debugging.
- Experience with circuit simulation tools such as HyperLynx and ANSYS.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving abilities.
- High attention to detail, organizational skills, and time management.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Thorough understanding of engineering theories and practices.
- Familiarity with Mentor Graphics PCB design tools is preferred.
- Experience with Xilinx or Microchip FPGA/SOC design flows is a plus.
- Knowledge of design standards for harsh environments (i.e., RTCA/DO-160, MIL-STD-810) is highly desirable.
- Active security clearance is strongly preferred. Candidates without an active clearance must be able to obtain a secret clearance upon starting this position.
