Our client is seeking a skilled and experienced Infrastructure Engineer to join a high-performing IT organization supporting critical business operations across North America. From managing data centers to leading modernization projects, you'll play a vital role in ensuring the performance, reliability, and scalability of enterprise IT systems. This opportunity requires a blend of strong technical expertise, leadership capabilities, and a proactive approach to problem-solving and innovation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (but not limited to):
- Oversee provisioning, installation, configuration, operation, and maintenance of infrastructure systems, including hardware, software, and related services.
- Manage datacenter operations across North America, with a particular focus on West Coast facilities, including aspects such as power, cooling, and hardware environments.
- Administer both Windows and Linux operating systems, ensuring optimal system performance and uptime.
- Support and improve virtualization platforms (i.e., VMware, Nutanix, Hyper-V), backup and recovery systems, and overall disaster recovery strategy.
- Lead or coordinate infrastructure projects, including system upgrades, installations, migrations, and retrofits.
- Monitor workloads, system health, and capacity, analyzing results to proactively address bottlenecks and optimize performance.
- Develop, document, and continuously improve operational procedures, standards, and best practices.
- Provide technical leadership to infrastructure and operations teams, helping drive quality and consistency across all IT systems.
- Collaborate with business partners to understand technical requirements and translate them into reliable infrastructure solutions.
- Participate in research and development to evaluate emerging technologies and assess their applicability in enhancing infrastructure efficiency and reliability.
- Prepare technical documentation and deliver presentations or briefings to internal stakeholders when needed.
- Travel occasionally for site support and project execution.
- Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 8+ years of related IT System Administration experience; 10+ years overall in IT.
- Expertise in Windows and Linux systems administration.
- Strong datacenter management experience, including power, cooling, racking, and cabling.
- Proficient in virtualization technologies such as VMware, Nutanix, and Hyper-V.
- Knowledge of enterprise backup and disaster recovery tools (e.g., Veeam).
- Proven ability to lead complex infrastructure projects from planning through execution.
- Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and performance monitoring skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively across technical and non-technical teams.
- Relevant certifications (i.e., Microsoft, VMware, Linux, ITIL) are preferred.
- Experience in the semiconductor or manufacturing sectors is a plus.
- Familiarity with Atlassian tools such as JIRA and Confluence is preferred.
- Exposure to vendor management and service contract negotiation is desired.
- U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Residency required, with the ability to obtain a security clearance.
