Job Description:
Our client is seeking a Data Scientist with a deep interest in Natural Language Processing (NLP), generative AI, and machine learning. This position offers a unique opportunity to work on impactful projects aimed at advancing foreign language proficiency assessments through state-of-the-art AI techniques. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and optimize generative AI models tailored to language proficiency testing and educational use cases.
- Apply advanced NLP techniques, including large language model (LLM) fine-tuning, natural language understanding, and automated content generation.
- Build scalable, high-performance data pipelines and algorithms to process large volumes of structured and unstructured text data.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams of software engineers, data scientists, and subject matter experts to deliver complete, production-ready AI solutions.
- Conduct research on emerging methodologies in generative AI and NLP; continuously evaluate and adopt new tools and practices.
- Clearly communicate technical findings to a range of stakeholders, both technical and non-technical.
- Master’s degree (or equivalent industry experience) in Computer Science, AI/ML, Data Science, Statistics, Applied Linguistics, or a related field.
- Strong proficiency in Python and experience developing algorithms for AI/ML workflows.
- Solid foundation in NLP, machine learning, and generative AI, supported by coursework, research, or applied projects.
- Experience working with large-scale text data, including cleaning, preparation, modeling, and visualization.
- Familiarity with High-Performance Computing (HPC) environments and the complexities of large-scale model development.
- Experience using deep learning frameworks (i.e., TensorFlow, PyTorch) to build and train language-based AI systems is preferred.
- Knowledge of responsible AI practices, including model interpretability, bias mitigation, and ethical deployment is advantageous.
- Familiarity with collaborative software development practices, including Git and open-source contribution is a plus.
- Curiosity and enthusiasm for exploring innovative AI applications in education and language learning is a bonus!
- Due to the nature of the work, an Interim clearance is required, however the candidate will need to obtain a Secret clearance (active Secret clearance is a plus).
