Job Description:
Our client is seeking a Biospecimen Associate to support laboratory operations. In this role you will be responsible for receiving, processing, and tracking biological specimens while ensuring compliance with laboratory protocols. Acting as a key link between clinical operations and client services, this position requires strong attention to detail, data accuracy, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (but not limited to):
- Receive, unpack, and process incoming biological specimens (primarily blood-based).
- Accession samples into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) and ensure accurate data entry.
- Prepare samples for downstream testing, including plasma isolation and documentation of sample transfers.
- Organize and manage short- and long-term specimen storage.
- Identify, document, and escalate specimen discrepancies or quality concerns.
- Operate and maintain lab equipment in accordance with SOPs; assist with troubleshooting when necessary.
- Support laboratory cleanliness and maintenance schedules.
- Collaborate with Analytical, Post-Analytical, and Client Services teams to ensure consistent operational support.
- Report system deviations and nonconforming events to the appropriate channels.
- Assist in training new personnel and support new procedural rollouts as needed.
- Participate in process improvement activities and special projects.
- Perform additional laboratory support tasks to ensure timely delivery of results.
- Associate’s degree or equivalent experience required (Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Science, Clinical Science, or a related field is preferred).
- Familiarity with LIMS or similar data management systems.
- High attention to detail with strong organizational and record-keeping skills.
- Effective communication skills (written and verbal).
- Ability to prioritize and adapt in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Proficient in basic computing tasks and office software.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- 0–12 months of laboratory or biospecimen experience is strongly preferred.
- This role requires flexibility in scheduling, involves extended periods of standing or sitting, and includes routine exposure to biological specimens and laboratory equipment, all within a safety-compliant laboratory environment.
- Pay range $72,000 - $92,000 depending on experience.
