Job Description:
Our client is seeking a Senior Product Development Engineer to drive next-generation medical diagnostic products from concept to manufacturing. This role focuses on developing and implementing automated test processes and fixtures for electro-mechanical assemblies, with a strong emphasis on LabVIEW, TestStand, and medical device manufacturing. The ideal candidate will work cross-functionally with R&D and manufacturing teams to ensure innovative, reliable, and compliant solutions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (but not limited to):
- Lead the creation of complex automated test fixtures, including conceptual design, hardware selection/integration, and software control systems.
- Develop new test methods for manufacturing, including defining specifications, designing/procuring fixtures, managing suppliers, and integrating automation solutions.
- Collaborate with R&D and manufacturing teams to optimize process conditions and ensure alignment across all phases of development.
- Develop and maintain control systems using LabVIEW and TestStand, with integration of motion control and database communication.
- Execute process validations and reliability activities, including pFMECA, IQ, OQ, PQ, gauge R&R, DoE, and process capability studies.
- Document all work in alignment with design control and quality standards for medical devices.
- Analyze and interpret test data, identify trends, and recommend corrective actions or improvements.
- Provide technical guidance and leadership for cross-functional investigations and product/process enhancements.
- Support planning activities, review deliverables from other functions, and contribute to project management efforts.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field (Master’s degree is a plus).
- 8–10+ years of product development or relevant engineering experience (6–8+ years with advanced degree).
- Proven expertise in LabVIEW, TestStand, and test fixture development for New Product Introduction (NPI).
- Medical device industry experience required (IVD experience strongly preferred).
- Strong foundation in electrical engineering components and automated/robotic systems.
- Proficiency with process validation (IQ/OQ/PQ), CAD design (Creo preferred), and statistical analysis tools (Minitab).
- Knowledge of Python is a plus.
- Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, and root cause analysis skills.
- Leadership skills including accountability, decision-making, and cross-functional communication.
