Job Description:
Our client is seeking a highly skilled Infrastructure Engineer to join their IT team and play a key role in managing and enhancing enterprise-level infrastructure operations. This individual will be responsible for provisioning, installation, configuration, operation, and maintenance of hardware and software systems that support core infrastructure services. The role also involves research and development to drive innovation, improve efficiency, and ensure the reliability of critical IT systems. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical expertise, strong leadership skills, and the ability to operate in a fast-paced environment supporting complex, mission-critical infrastructure.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (but not limited to):
- Manage IT infrastructure services, ensuring availability, scalability, and security.
- Provide technical leadership, including recommendations for performance and reliability improvements.
- Lead and mentor team members, contributing to operational excellence.
- Oversee day-to-day data center operations across North America and globally.
- Participate in IT projects supporting both regional and global initiatives.
- Install, configure, upgrade, troubleshoot, and document infrastructure components (Windows, Linux, storage, backups, etc.).
- Evaluate performance metrics, monitor workloads, and ensure optimal system operations.
- Support specialized engineering IT environments (EDA/CAD tools such as Cadence, Synopsys, Mentor Graphics) including license server management and engineering database administration.
- Develop and improve operational standards, procedures, and best practices.
- Lead and coordinate infrastructure projects including new installations, upgrades, and retrofits.
- Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field is strongly preferred.
- 8+ years of IT-related experience, including 5+ years in IT systems administration.
- Strong Linux administration skills.
- Proven experience in data center management (power, cooling, network, and server infrastructure).
- Proficiency in virtualization technologies (VMWare, Nutanix, Hyper-V).
- Knowledge of backup, restore, and disaster recovery technologies (i.e., Veeam).
- Experience supporting EDA/CAD tools within semiconductors or similar environments.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to recommend solutions for capacity, performance, and scalability challenges.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to write documentation, present to stakeholders, and act as a technical mentor.
- Ability to work independently or within teams while managing multiple priorities.
- Familiarity with Atlassian tools (JIRA, Confluence) is preferred.
- Willingness to travel as required.
- Pay salary $140,000/year depending on experience.
- Active Secret clearance is strongly preferred. Candidates without clearance must be able to obtain a secret clearance upon starting the role.
