Job Description:
Our client is seeking a Research Associate to join their Cryo-Electron Microscopy (CryoEM) team. This position plays a key role in generating high-quality protein structural datasets to support drug discovery efforts. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in protein biochemistry and an eagerness to apply their skills within a state-of-the-art structural biology environment. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to groundbreaking research while gaining hands-on experience with advanced CryoEM instrumentation and workflows.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (but not limited to):
- Perform protein purification, complexation, vitrification, and clipping to ensure consistent, high-quality sample preparation for CryoEM.
- Load and operate CryoEM microscopes, executing automated data collection and ensuring data quality.
- Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary research teams to support high-throughput structure determination.
- Follow established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and assist in refining and optimizing workflows.
- Accurately document experimental procedures and results in internal databases and reports.
- Master’s degree in Biochemistry, Structural Biology, Biophysics, Molecular Biology, Chemistry, or a related field with 0–2 years of relevant experience; or Bachelor’s degree with 2–4 years of relevant laboratory experience.
- Proficiency in standard wet-lab techniques including pipetting, buffer preparation, and protein purification.
- Solid understanding of protein chemistry fundamentals such as molarity, protein concentration, and buffer formulation.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to troubleshoot experimental and technical challenges.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills in a fast-paced, collaborative research environment.
- Familiarity with structural biology methods and CryoEM sample preparation workflows is a plus.
- Experience with liquid handling systems (i.e., Tecan, Hamilton) is preferred.
- Prior exposure to CryoEM data collection or microscope operation, particularly using SerialEM is highly preferred.
