Job Description:
Our client is seeking a Linux Systems Administrator to support enterprise-classified infrastructures. This role is ideal for an experienced administrator with deep Linux expertise, strong automation skills, and a solid understanding of system security and compliance standards. The selected candidate will be responsible for the configuration, maintenance, and optimization of Linux-based systems and services, ensuring operational reliability, performance, and security across complex computing environments. This position offers the opportunity to work on impactful projects within a highly collaborative IT team.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Administer and maintain multi-user Linux environments, focusing on RHEL 7/8 server and workstation platforms.
  • Develop and maintain secure systems that meet internal and government compliance standards.
  • Automate system configuration and deployment using tools such as Satellite and Ansible.
  • Write and maintain scripts in bash/shell, Python, and Perl to support administrative tasks and system management.
  • Configure and manage enterprise storage technologies (LVM, RAID, encrypted storage, SAN/NAS, NFS).
  • Monitor and tune system performance, conduct capacity planning, and allocate mass storage resources.
  • Install system-wide software, manage administrator/service accounts, and integrate with Active Directory.
  • Resolve escalated support issues related to system performance, access, and security controls.
  • Evaluate and integrate third-party vendor solutions; manage vendor tracking and monitoring.
  • Perform system hardening and compliance checks using DISA STIGs, STIG Viewer, and SCC Tool.
  • Support backup and recovery processes, cloud integrations, and system outages/downtimes.
  • Draft internal IT communications regarding planned maintenance, outages, or updates.
  • Support merger, acquisition, and divestiture efforts as they relate to network and user access.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience administering RHEL 7/8 systems in an enterprise setting.
  • At least 5 years of experience using Red Hat Satellite to manage Linux environments.
  • Proficiency with scripting languages (i.e., bash/shell, Python, and Perl).
  • Strong troubleshooting skills including knowledge of Linux boot processes, Kickstart, systemd, kernel tuning, and system diagnostics.
  • Experience configuring and securing Linux storage solutions.
  • Familiar with Linux package management tools (i.e., rpm, yum, and dnf).
  • Solid understanding of networking concepts including firewalls, protocols, routing, and performance tuning.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn and adapt to new technologies quickly.
  • Security+ certification or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire
  • Due to the nature of the work, an active Secret clearance is required, candidates without an active Secret clearance will not be considered.
