Job Description:
Our client is seeking a highly motivated Radio Frequency (RF) Microwave Design Engineer to join their multidisciplinary engineering team. This role provides a unique opportunity to contribute to the design and development of cutting-edge RF systems and components within a highly technical and mission-driven environment. The selected candidate will play a key role in shaping next-generation wireless and electromagnetic capabilities for strategic applications.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (but not limited to):
- Design, develop, and test RF and microwave systems, components, and circuits, including antennas, transmitters, receivers, frequency synthesizers, and related subsystems.
- Perform system- and circuit-level analysis, simulation, schematic capture, component selection, and layout support.
- Develop and execute test plans and troubleshooting procedures for RF subsystems and hardware.
- Participate in technical reviews, requirements analysis, and interface definitions.
- Design RF components ensuring compliance with Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC), safety, thermal management, and manufacturability requirements.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate RF systems into larger architectures.
- Maintain accurate documentation of designs, development activities, and system performance data.
- Support field test deployments and experimental design efforts as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
- Strong knowledge of RF and analog circuit design, including power conversion circuits.
- Hands-on experience with transmitter and receiver chains in wireless communications systems.
- Proficient in RF lab practices and operation of test equipment (i.e., oscilloscopes, spectrum/network analyzers, and waveform generators).
- Experience with MATLAB, Python, and gnu radio for signal processing and system modeling.
- Background in Software-Defined Radios (SDRs) or equivalent RF systems.
- Ability to work independently and resolve complex technical challenges efficiently.
- Familiarity with RF phenomenology and unintended emissions, along with hands-on experience installing, deploying, and testing RF systems in field environments is highly preferred.
- An interest in field test deployments and experimental design is highly valued.
- Strong documentation skills and the ability to maintain accurate records of designs, procurements, and system logistics is a plus.
- Due to the nature of the work, an Interim clearance is required, however the candidate will need to obtain a Top-Secret clearance (active Top-Secret clearance is a plus).
