Job Description:
Our client is seeking a Technical Integration Architect to support enterprise-level technology initiatives that span academic, administrative, and operational functions. This role plays a critical part in modernizing and connecting the digital ecosystem through robust, secure, and scalable integration strategies. The ideal candidate will be a seasoned architect with deep knowledge of cloud-based integration technologies and experience working within higher education environments.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (but not limited to):
- Architect and implement integration solutions across diverse enterprise systems such as Student Information Systems (SIS), Learning Management Systems (LMS), CRMs, and ERPs.
- Define and enforce integration standards, reusable patterns, and technical best practices for scalable and sustainable development.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand institutional goals and business processes, translating them into technical solutions.
- Lead the evaluation, selection, and implementation of integration tools and platforms aligned with enterprise architecture.
- Produce technical documentation, including architecture diagrams, data flow models, and implementation guides.
- Provide hands-on leadership for integration initiatives, including mentoring developers and coordinating across teams.
- Ensure compliance with security, privacy, and data governance requirements, with an emphasis on regulations relevant to education (i.e., FERPA, GDPR).
- Monitor integration performance and proactively resolve issues to maintain a high level of system reliability.
- Stay current with emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices related to system integration and cloud services.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Minimum 7 years of experience in IT architecture, with at least 5 years focused specifically on integration architecture.
- At least 3 years of experience working in or closely with higher education IT environments.
- Deep expertise in Microsoft Azure technologies including Logic Apps, Functions, API Management, and Service Bus.
- Strong understanding of iPaaS (Integration Platform as a Service) solutions and data integration patterns.
- Proficient in RESTful API and SOAP-based web service design and implementation.
- Familiarity with common higher education platforms such as Banner, Workday, Canvas, ServiceNow, and Salesforce.
- Experience with identity and access management technologies (i.e., Azure AD, SAML, OAuth).
- Demonstrated knowledge of middleware, ETL tools, and integration frameworks.
- Understanding of higher education data standards (i.e., IMS Global, PESC).
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Knowledge of agile development methodologies and tools (i.e., Jira, Azure DevOps) is preferred.
- Familiarity with containerization and microservices (i.e., Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus.
- Hands-on experience with enterprise integration platforms such as Ellucian Ethos, Informatica, or Apache Kafka is preferred.
- Background in large-scale system implementations within higher education environments is strongly preferred.
- Microsoft Azure certifications (i.e., Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Azure Integration and Developer Associate) is highly preferred.
